The NEW AND IMPROVED ARMDROP RACING!

Everyone can enter, ANYONE can win!

Armdrop LIVE! is the new live race event created by Rich Christensen. You might be familiar with his track record. He just created a couple little shows like PINKS, PINKS ALL OUT, PASTIME and DRAG RACE HIGH…

It worked like we hoped it would at Castrol Raceway! Floating Dial bracket racing that you have to see to believe!

MORE CHANCES TO WIN!

Friday Night Armdrop Want to practice a little before the big event? Of course you do! Rich Christensen himself will be there on Friday night, (time to be determined by each host track…) and every Armdrop LIVE! competitor will have an opportunity to take one pass on Rich’s armdrop. You have seen him on TV, now test and tune with the man himself! That happens Friday night and that leads up to…

All Day Saturday…The Main Event

ArmDrop LIVE! - Floating Dial Drags -Bracket Racing

This is a new twist on bracket racing with a heads up format utilizing the drop of Rich’s arms and a floating dial in system to determine the best bracket racer of the day. We will accept all entries to qualify (Door cars, Bikes, Quads, Snowmobiles, Front Engine Dragsters. Etc) and all will run together, as host track rules permit. We start with a ladder of 256 vehicles. The fastest 256 make the field. The field will be split into two classes. 256 will become128, 128 will become 64, 64 becomes 32, 32 to 16, 16 to 8 and then 8 will become 4.

Then, we add a little spice to the race day. A little something we like to call

Heads Up/Hot Lap Challenge

ArmDrop Racing wants to make the ArmDrop LIVE event an action packed day of racing. We have added up to 4 “mini” heads up races. Rich, Brian and the ArmDrop staff to determine which of the hardest running cars will be picked for 4 different Heads Up, Hot Lap competitions. Samples below:

ArmDrop -Stick It Challenge -Two Manuel transmission vehicles heads up race for cash and/or prizes
ArmDrop -Import vs Domestic heads up for cash & prizes
ArmDrop –Big Three challenge - the classic battle of the ages:Ford,Gm & Mopar  in a heads up race for cash and/or prizes
ArmDrop –Classic Muscle Challenge - Old school cars battling heads up for cash & prizes

ArmDrop- Mix & Match – Two unique vehicles with evenly matched ET’s go heads up for cash & prizes

Then the Armdrop Floating Dial Drags bracket class will finish the show with A best 2 out of 3 hot lap using a closest to posted floating dial- for UP TO 10,000 dollars in cash and prizes!

We have this this new format down. Come and check it out!

We have this this new format down. Come and check it out! Next stop, Woodburn Dragstrip in the great state of Oregon!

  9. do we have to preregister??how do we register?when? thx AJ

  10. I see that others have asked this question.
    How and when will preregistration for Armdrop LIVE take place for the Immokalee event.
    Thanks, Jeff

  11. whatta we gotts t do to race with the BALD GUY!!!!!!!!

  12. You gotts to sign up, brother! Each track will have their own sign up process. If you are interested in racing at an event, contact the specific track you want to race at and follow their sign up procedure.

    See you at the track!

  13. how fast can u run before you need a cage?

  14. This sounds like a great time. I have already posted info on a couple Canadian motorcycle forums for the event at Toronto Motorsports Park and also on a very popular U.S. forum for the other tracks. Would like to see a great turn out for you guys up here.

  15. What’s the bad info Steve is talking about on the Toronto site??

  16. Can snowmobiles compete in this event

  17. i got my answer listening to the interview.

  18. I am not sure what the bad info is on the Toronto Motorsports page. I will check it out ASAP and get back to you.

  19. I was wondering when are we going to have an all motorcycles all out or arm drop whatever.No one has let me know anything and i emailed yall 6 months ago.I live in florida and theres plenty of bikes ready to go!!Please email me back with some info

  20. When will you be close to AR.

  21. Great question!

    Rich and I agree that bikes are our favorite. In fact, in Rich’s mind, the majority of the racing on PINKS was supposed to be with bikes! That wasn’t how it played out.

    As far as I know, there are no plans to have an all motorcycle PINKS All Out, but if anyone can talk the network into it, it will be Rich Christensen!

    Hope to see you in Immokalee.

  22. Immokalee website now taking registrations. immrace.com then click on schedule at the bottom of the page. Go to May 16-17 and click on the picture of Rich. There will be a link to register.

  23. I was wondering if there had been any consideration in coming back to MAPLE GROVE, PA??? I spent 4 days there in the nasty heat n sun…..but it was all worth it…and i would love to see a return it is still the big talk around here

  24. hey i like drag race high it is kool to watch high school kids learn the way thing work and make a race car

  25. Hey I registered for arm drop live over the Toronto Motor sports park website it said i would be contacted but i have yet to recieve any info and the registraition was paid so could you inform me of whats going on or who i would talk to as i have already sent the track emails with no response yet
    Thanks Gord

  26. Hey guys just wanted to let you know the buzz has started around Edmonton for the event at Castrol. Should be an awesome event as there is a ton of racers around and from all speed class’s. If the event goes down i will be there. Ill post up the info on more local sites and get the word out.

  27. Gord Taylor.
    I registered on Thursday evening and they called me today but just to see if I was taking any crew members. They will be calling me back again to confirm registration.

  28. The Fl West coast racers will dominate armdrop at Immokalee. Hey baldy and poney tail, whatch ya got ? Can we use electronics, mattys, counters, computers, radios, etc.?

  29. Just read all electronics are ok, but they wont do much good with this format. That’s good! Gonna have ta man up and forget about using the Adams box….LOL.

  30. Great comment Red! That is exactly right. You gotta man up and check your Adams box at the door…

  31. Gavin,

    Where do you register for the Edmonton event? Nothing on the Castrol Raceway site that I can see. TMP has their event afterwards and they are up and registering.

    Mike

  32. Hey guys can’t wait to see all of you guys in irwindale after going to the finals in las vegas my vega has is going faster and the front end is going higher run watcha brung cry baby and whiners stay home

    teo aka THE BIG DOG

  33. Rich, sounds really interesting, but isn’t this 180degrees from Pinks All Out? Are you betting that racers will go all out to the 1000ft then try to keep a nose on their oponent so they won’t break out? Good luck I like how you are very open to new ideas.

  34. Hey i was wondering what the rules for the race in Toronto will be… do i need a cage stuff like that are you jus using IHRA rules or your own

  35. is this just cars or bikes too?????

  36. Will there be more shows booked in Canada ’cause we love Racing!

  37. was wonderin if u guys are comming to new york anythine soon for armdrop…..
    sounds cool sounds ike crazy fun…

  38. Hey I registered for Immokalee and I have not heard back from anyone there. How do I know if I am registered as I know it is a small track… I know this Arm Drop Live for be just as crazy as Pinks All Out, I made it in the top 16 at Moroso. Look forward to it

  39. Hey Gavin anything coming back to K.C. Mo.

  40. Howdy! great concept I am going to be registering for the event at tulsa raceway park (as soon as the registration link is working) since i live right down the road from the track. I am sure glade to see a lot of peaple geting involved in dragracing again and it looks like a good year for the tulsa dragstrip. Also was just wandering is the genaral rules the same as the NHRA rules as far as the cars go?

  41. how do you register? Do you just show up? Or is there a way online?

  42. Back to the first post here. How is the ladder going to work if the first 10 pair down the track both break out? It sound like the object here is to be last in line.

  43. TMP says you have to run 11.30 or better but I am not sure what is agood time to run. If they show you the card on the line that says both must run 10.50 without breakout and your car can run 10.00 your ok but they have 12 cards 1/2 second apart how does that work? Will they have a field running 8.00 and up or how will they decide how low the cards will be?
    Thanks Gary

  44. Yes that is a good question , how will rich know that both cars can hit the time posted on the death card ? Lets say you quallfy with a 11.00 and you get a 10.90 card your pretty much done. Maybe instaed of the death card you had a specific index time like 10.90 or whatever it would make heads up and very close at the other end . I think the arm-dop live is an excellent idea . and I love what you guys are doing for amature drag raceing . keep it up. Torono looks like is going to be a big hit by the way I just recived my confirmation from the track and it looks like im the 243 car to register already.

    Thanks Adam
    Montreal canada

  45. Rich and Gavin,

    If there is anything I can do on my website to help you promote this let me know. We have a pinks forum on the site that is popular. We are the premier site for local heads up and index drag racing in the tristate area.

    Good luck and sounds like a good time.

    Mike

  46. You are scheduled for Woodburn OR July 4th Is this a Pinks All Out competition and will it be televised?

  47. Thanks for you comment Katie!

    We are indeed scheduled for Woodburn, Oregon July 4th and 5th for our new Armdrop LIVE! racing event.

    Armdrop LIVE! is the new creation from the mind of Rich Christensen and is not affiliated in any way with PINKS All Out or Speed.

    As such, there will be no cameras at this event to slow Rich down! Hope to see you there!

  48. Do we know what the ET will be?

  49. Great question. The ET will be set by each individual track, so to get that information, you must check to see if they have posted it yet on their homepages.

    A list of each track is on the right hand side of this blog to save you some time!

  50. I heard in the radio that Pinks was coming to Portland Oregon, I was wondering if this is true and when are they coming and when can I purchase tickets?

  51. I was wondering when the Gainesville episope of Pinks All Out will air.

  52. It would be awesome too see pinks all out in canada hopefully starting with toronto motor sports park. We have many awesome cars here, and huge events but personally i think yours would blow them away . Rich great show love it, but us canadians love you too, so can u bring it here too canada we would love too see you thanks Eric

  53. Thanks for your message!

    I want to repeat that this isn’t a PINKS ALL OUT event that is coming to Toronto. Rich Christensen has created a new racing event called “Armdrop LIVE!”

    The format may look similar but I assure you it is quite different and has a different twist that we even think could be BETTER than ALL OUT. Time will tell but I do know one thing for certain.

    Rich LOVES Canada and has certainly NOT forgotten about all the great Canadian fans that have supported PINKS and PINKS ALL OUT from its inception. A strong commitment has been made to do a couple of Canadian dates this year(Toronto Motorsports Park and Castrol Raceway) and we are looking very seriously at a large tour of Canada in ‘09.

    As for what the network is thinking, I really can’t tell, but I know that Rich Christensen and the Armdrop LIVE! crew WILL be coming to Canada to have some fun!

  54. ArmDrop Live @ Immokalee is in the buzz here in Florida. People from all over the state & even ajoining states are signing up. This is gonna be a great race & hopefully as big a turnout as last year @ Moroso.
    All our customers are waiting on their tech cards. i am going over to Immokalee to film on 4/22 for an upcoming Murray’s commercial. If you guys are in the area, let me know. Brian has been keeping in contact to let me know what is happening. I am waiting on fliers to get them out … THIS IS GONNA BE GREAT!!!!

  55. this Armdrop compitition coming to Woodburn drag strip in july, will it be televised or made into a SpeedTV show?

  56. Can you give us a run down on the pros and cons of using a delay box and/or timers in this style of competition?

  57. Information is on Castrol raceways site and cars ,trucks, bikes and snowmobiles that can run 11:50 or quicker are all welcome .See you all at Edmonton . http://www.castrolraceway.com

  58. Hey, i’ve got a daily driven 70 El Camino, am 16 years old and want a place to run it, Armdrop Live sounds awesome, but i think my car will only run low 13’s, could i still run?

  59. Steve,

    Thanks for the post! The El Camino is one of my favorite rides and we always welcome our young competitors to our events. In fact, at PINKS All Out, several “young guns” have left their mark this season.

    This compitition is very clear, however. There is a qualifying standard that all cars MUST meet in order to be considered for the top 256. I see no reason why you can’t sign up to try to qualify on Friday but if you can’t meet the qualifying standard, you won’t be asked to be in the final competition.

    But if I am a racer, I might get my ride ready and make a pass on Friday in front of a huge crowd. Might be good experience for a “young gun” like yourself!

  60. is your show coming to edmonton alberta canada this may 31st?

  61. You can register for the ArmDrop live event @ Immokalee Reginal Raceway in Florida on our website. Just Go To:

    http://www.888murrays.com

    Registration is right on the front page.

    Good Luck to all of you
    from Murray’s Speed & Custom

  62. Murray’s Speed Shop rules!!!

    See you in Florida!

    Gavin Jerome

  63. I have 2 bikes that will easily qualify .my question is am I allowed to register both bikes with only myself as a driver for both bikes.

  64. Very good question! I think this is a question for each track but I will check with Brian Bossone, the president of the Armdrop Racing Association. I assume that you have to pick one bike and race that one. If I hear different I will put a post on the blog saying so.

    Thanks for your interest in Armdrop LIVE!

  65. I talked to Castrol raceway today about racing 2 bikes/1 driver,
    they say no problem on their end, but I must realize if both bikes keep winning I will eventually have to race both bikes heads-up against each other.
    Then I choose the bike to race, other bike will be a no-show, thus the bike I have choosen to race will continue on to the next round thus eliminating the other bike.
    Could someone from Armdrop please confirm this if this will be
    OK with your rulings, so I can pre register the 2nd bike!

  66. 202! I am super excited that your coming to Edmonton,Ab - Castrol raceway!! It should go over very well as I’m sure it will. Hopefully a Pinks all-out will happen in 2009 here!!?

  67. hey hey hey glad to see you guys coming to alberta .ive never run my car at the strip before so if i show up and dont run in the 11 sec .i just dont get in or what?and what class of rules does the event run on?

  68. Are delay boxes legal? Are nitrous timers legal? Are pneumatic or electronic throttle stops legal? Thanks for your response.

  69. Great post! Let me say it again for the record…everything is legal…delay boxes, nitrous timers, pneumatic/electronic throttle stops…whatever you think you need to control your car.

    Rich has set this up though that the time you will have from the time he flashes the “death card” until the time he drops his arms will be a split second, so you better have cat-like relexes!

    Hope that anwsers your questions.

  70. when will we know that entries are full @ immoklee?

  71. the only 71 buick gs that races in south fla.

  72. Hey Everyone!
    So great to hear that people are excited about the event coming to Castrol Raceway! Just wanted to let you all know that we have Street Legal events every Friday night so you can all come out and take a some runs down the track! That way if you come out to the Arm Drop it won’t be your first run on the track.
    It’s $25 to run at the street legals and all the dates and rules our on our website! Look under Points and Stats for the rules :)
    Hope to see you all out there!

  73. Are imports allowed? How about trucks? And slow race cars?

  74. hey Gavin, can you call me,,,,,,,dan at mcmurray speedway 780-633-9019

  75. I was on the TV show of Pink’s All Out in February 2007 at Moroso Motor Sport Park, with my 1970 AMC Javelin called the MISSION IMPOSSIBLE and sorry to say I blew my engine in the second round but I had a blast. I PRE- REGISTERED for IMMOKALEE but have not had a reply. I printed the confirmation so I will bring it to the track.
    I also return to Maine for Racing during the summer, is their any time scheduled at all for the Northeast.

    I know the track officials at OXFORD PLAINS DRAGWAY in Maine a 1/8 mile track and they would WELCOME Rich and his team at any time.

    I also know the folks at NEW ENGLAND DRAGWAY Epping New Hampshire a 1/4 mile track and they would also WWELCOME Rich and his team.

    You may call me at 207-468-1300

    See you at IMMOKALEE, Thanks Ray

  76. well the count down is here anyone know what you have to run to get in the show at immokalee???/

  77. another question what if you can not run the number Rich flashes you???

  78. its cool to see you guys in tulsa, but its dissapointing to see that its just modified bracket racing. yes, alot of people will go to see some racing but i dont know if its the kind they want to see.

  79. What are the tech rules? Is it up to the discretion of the track or is there a standard set by Arm Drop Live? I am interested in the Catrol Raceway event , but I have no rollbar and could run the number (11.50). If there aren’t enough cars will they lower the index?

  80. JUST LEFT ALL-OUT IN ATLANTA,ME AND HEDDMAN HEADERS PUT UP THE PRIZE MONEY FOR THE FIRST 000 LIGHT BUT IT DID NOT HAPPEN, SO WE DOUBLED IT FOR THE SECOND PLACE DRIVER ?AND FROM WHAT I UNDERSTAND RICH SAID THERE IS NO SECOND PLACE AND WAS GIVING IT TO THE WINNER ? IS THIS TRUE

  81. we registered a long time ago and still have not heard anything from anyone?? whats the word

  82. I am signed up for Immokalee..however I’m not 100% sure how fast my car runs…it should be high 12 to 13. From what I am reading it sounds like it needs to run in the 10s..is this true? I don’t want to go out there if it is already set that the compition will all have to be 10 or better. I want to do this but I dont want to waste everyones time. Thank you

  83. during Pinks All Out at Atlanta Dragway an web site was given for pictures of the event. Please give it to me again.
    The event was great!
    Hope Rich heals fast after that Cutlass bit him!
    looking foward to the next time your in the south!

  84. I will check with Immokalee. I think they are contacting everyone this week to confirm, but if you registered before now, you are in!

    It should be an awesome event. I will post something here if what I just posted is not how they are doing it!

  85. Great post Barryt!

    I don’t have the web site for the pictures but the guy’s name is Gator and if you c all the track directly, I am sure they will be able to point you in the right direction!

    Thanks for your kind words about Rich. He will learn not to open the hood of a car that has caught fire!

    Atlanta ROCKS!

  86. The tech rules for this event match the Tech Inspection Guidelines for IHRA. Safety is paramount for this event and we differ to each track and use their normal tech rules.

    Hope that helps!

  87. Thanks,

    Just got word that they dropped the Index to 12.50 for the Castrol Raceway event.

  88. I registered on IMRR web site two months ago or so and still haven’t recieved confirmation? Hope they got it together and didn’t lose info, sure would’nt want to be left out. We were up there for Runday Sunday two weeks ago and asked but could not get answers. Either way its a Great track and should be a good time for all. Get better Rich

  89. As of Monday may 12 update on armdrop live in Edmonton is that the new lower time of 12.50 or faster
    so to qualify you must be 12.50 or faster to run
    see you all there May 30 & 31

  90. sure hope you guys are right about the 12.50 index at castrol…i dont want a cage in my car but i was going to put one in this weekend. that will be great if i dont need it.

  91. Hi I am intereted in signing up for the Edmonton Alberta, Canada event do you know when thats taking place,……….?……… Thanks sincerely Tony Wait Tonywait@shaw.ca

  92. just checked castrols site…they have change it to the 12.50 index.

  93. I do know when the Castrol Event is taking place. The last weekend of May. Check out their site for more info. The link is on the right side of this blog!

    See you in Canada!

  94. well here it is tues and no responce yet whats the min et you have to run at IMRR???? we all need to know!!!!

  95. Quote:Chris27, on May 9th, 2008 at 12:17 pm Said:

    chris even with the index being lowed to 12.50
    if you car runs faster than 11.50 you have to put a roll bar in to it because if you run on friday at the quafilyer and run faster than 11.50 with no bar you will not be alowed to run again past 11.50 if you do you will be removed from the race.

    fyi: check the Ihra 2008 rule book pages 86 - 91
    if you don’t have a copy of the rule book drop me a e-mail @ heilracing@telus.net

  96. i may be missing something here but if the index is 12.50 there should not be any need to run faster. the way i understood it if the index is 12.50 then rich could flip the “death card” that would be SLOWER than 12.5 if i am not understanding this correctly please let me know. thanks…rob

  97. I dont know the index for Immokalle for this weekend, but its a 1/8th mile track if that helps anyone out.

  98. How will the 256 cars be picked? If its based just on E. T.

  99. well i see good questions but no guidence what are you guys doing?????

  100. rob cudmore

    i don’t know if you are meaning the edmonton race but if you are than that 12.50 index is the slowest that you can run it is not really an index as to more a minum time

  101. i am talking about the edmonton race, but when it was 11.50 i was under the impression that you had to run at least 11.50 or faster and the death card woukld be slower than 11.50. is this incorrect?

  102. no you must run 11.50 or faster to compeat

    the death card could be anywhere from ie. 7.50 - 12.50

  103. well whats the point of entering if you have a slower car? im pretty sure i must be missing something here. if i can only run 11.2 but the death card coul be 9.90 how do i have any chance of winning?

  104. whell you hope to heck the other guy brakes out
    you can e-mail me and i will have a more tim and room to wright it all out
    heilracing@telus.net

  105. Heil Racing is wrong on the death card. According to the rules:
    “he shows, “the DEATH CARD.” On it is an ET that he knows you can hit. ”

    Therefore, if the slowest car at the line has run a best of 11.2 & the faster of the pair is a 10.1 car, the death card must be a 11.2 or slower.
    Could be really funny if he flashes something like a 15.5 for a couple of 9 sec cars.

  106. Okay, just a quick clarification…the “death card” will be chosen so that times include the “qualifying ET” and times that are SLOWER than the qualifying ET giving everyone an equal chance.

    There will split categories so that the real fast cars race agains the real fast cars and the slower cars will race the slower cars all the way up until the finals. Check the post that Brian Bossone made earlier about that rule clarification.

  107. eight rounds and no money if you go out early.
    not for me.

  108. Well Gavin Im glad to hear that. that is how i understood it before. that makes much more sense…i was just about to pull out of the event….ticks me off all the mis information on this type of thing. i wish people would not comment if they dont know!!

    {gavin’s answer in italics: I know how you feel Rob. I hope you didn’t pull out of the event. In absence of information, there will always be misinformation. I will accept responsibility for this, but I gave as much as I knew. There was a communication breakdown big time. I know that the Immokalee Regional Raceway website isn’t as complete as some tracks but there are a smaller, lower budget track without a full time web designer I am guessing.”

  109. well i agree with jp sounds like a guessing game to me,but i am sure the guys and girls that will compete will be the guniee pigs..Have fun enjoy the great imrr track the fastest 1/8mi for miles around.

    {gavin’s answer in bold italics: I agree with you AND jp. But the guessing game was mostly on our part. We made a calculated guess that this format made sense. I think we guessed wrong…}

  110. Just came from the Inauggural(spelling?) Armdrop LIVE at IRR…There were a few hiccups, but hety, there’s always growing pains…It turned out to be a WAY cool concept…Pretty Fun!!!! Make sure you make it out when he comes to your area!!!!

    {gavin’s reply in bold italics: A FEW hiccups? You are being way too kind my friend. We had more hiccups in the beginning of this thing than Foster Brooks after a 3 day bender…I really like the way it ended up though. Brian Bossone deserves all the credit and I actually think after we tweak it a bit more, we might have something here. I am grateful for a kind comment, I have fork and spoon in hand ready to eat buckets of crap…}

  111. I really appreciate what Rich and his crew have done for the sport. However, as a spectator, I left the Armdrop race in Imokkalee after a few hours. There were a lot of great cars, but I couldn’t stand to watch these high horsepower cars coast across the finish line! Thanks again for trying Rich and keep on racing!

    {gavin’s reply in bold italics: First off, kudos to you Mike for sticking it out for even two hours. I would have left before that but I am contractually obligated to announce the thing…I think if you would have stayed, you would have seen us rally and figure out what you did, that slowing these cars down wasn’t compelling at all. We fixed that a bit, and it ended decently. Thanks so much for getting how hard Rich is trying to enhance the sport. He is truly passionate about this. Dragstrips are closing all over the country and I know that he won’t stop fighting to bring straight line racing back to the forefront.}

  112. Wow here it is sunday..The day after the big event and not a peep about what went on at IMRR.Guess everybody is still sleeping and tired.My friend had his quad out there and blazed a 5.63 but decided he could not compete with the format they were racing..Well i know the track made out with all the people that showed up to watch the action…..

    {gavin’s reply in bold italics I apologize for the lack of immediate info on the event. We stayed up late Saturday night and howled at the moon, licking our wounds after getting bitch slapped by the Florida sun and a flawed early portion of this event that blew goats. Most of us arose well hung over(I don’t drink so I was just well hung … ;) and barely made our flights out of Ft. Myers. 20 minutes into my flight home, the plane had to make an unplanned, emergency stop because of some fuel gage problem. I missed my connecting flight but was able to get on another flight that put me home but WAY later than I was supposed to get in. My father in law was in the ICU with an anurism so I spent the better part of the evening at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. I did get 3 hours of blissful slumber before I arose and began working on all this about about 4:30 this morning. I apologize for my laziness and I am indeed sorry that I didn’t live up to your information expectation.}

  113. I hope it went well for them. I tried to post some comments on fri. but apparently someone cant take some constructive comments. My post was deleted?

    {gavin’s post in bold italics Yeah, I tried to get to some comments of Friday, but I might have deleted yours. I was on the hotel business center computer and it kept locking up. I remember I did delete a couple on purpose, one that had nothing to do with the event and one that was nasty just for the sake of being nasty. There is a difference between constructive comments and speculative rants that belittle and attack. Judging by your sarcasm here, you may indeed be the butthole(and I use that term in the nicest possible way!) that I deleted. But I am in the mood to deal with all comments, nasty or not so please repost.}

  114. Well Jim, They never put out much in the way of information before the race, so it isn’t surprising that they aren’t putting much out after it either.
    Most poorly promoted event as far as details I’ve ever seen. I didn’t go, so I don’t know how many did.
    rj

    {gavin’s reply in bold italics: Now RJ, if this was the poorest you have seen, then you need to get out more. I agree that we put out very little info before the race but at least we had a blog that vaguely mentioned the event and I think we had one flyer…I have seen events that didn’t even have a blog…and we printed our flyer on colored paper, so that is something…}

  115. well, for all you guys that did’nt come out and give these guys a chance to try something different you missed one hell of a show…things started a little slow but quickly got rolling once eliminations came around….i had a blast running in this race and would love to do it again soon….its this simple, the person who knows their car and what it runs has a chance of wining 10,000.00 dollars…it does not matter if your car is fast or slow, just bring it out and run as close to the time posted as you can without leaving before rich does his arm drop…..i would suggest that you dont pay any attention to the rumors or haters out there with all the stupid questions,…i would also suggest that if you can get to a track where rich and his crew will be for this arm drop live event DO IT or you will be missing out on one of the best times you will ever have at a drag strip.

    {gavin’s reply in bold italics: This guy had an awesome car and played the game VERY well. We will always have hater and rumor mongers but I am glad you showed up to race, my friend. I loved your car PURPLE HAZE from the beginning as I am a huge Hendrix fan. A wise and learned man made an interesting observation about this event. He said that this was a chess match and the younger racers just want to mash the gas and go fast. This event rewarded the thinking racer, one who had been around the block a tad. Those seem to ‘GET THIS’ better than others. You were a class act and an excellent racer.}

  116. Where to begin?

    First off, out of 440 preregistered cars (I saw a TON of tech cards, so I tend to believe it), only 148 actually showed up to run. Thankfully we didn’t have more cars as the event organization was as poor as the promotion for it. I understand what Rich and Gavin are trying to accomplish, but cmon guys…get somebody on board that can handle the proptional and logisitical ends of things!

    We arrived at 8:30 in the morning at IRR, and after “teching” literally did nothing but “open time runs” ALL Friday, with only 1 (ONE) “qualifying session” at 8PM Friday night. Saturday, there were more “open time runs” (obvious time kill, hoping more cars came through the gate), and then there was another single “qualifying session”, followed by the mandatory drivers meeting. I’ll offer some input later in the post on these matters.

    The plan announced then was a shrinking of the field to 126 cars, with a handful of cars doing a “shootout qualifying run” to make the last 2 spots up (Memo to Rich…86 this last stupid idea - with no TV, no unnecessary drama is needed). The field was further split into two 64 car fields, a slow field and fast field (Memo to Rich again - GREAT IDEA! - make an actual ET break-point to help the racers know where they’ll stand). The two fields would be pared down to 1 car, making a final round of 1 faster car and 1 slower car.

    The final would be a best two out of three (hot lapping), with winner take all. Rich was very adamant about splitting the purse (kudos to him for that…I’ve always felt that way), and insisted we all agree to it (we did, with some grudging remarks in the crowd - to be expected).

    As for me, I lost in the third round of “slow car” (my qualifying run was a 7.73 ET - not too bad for a street car). I won’t comment on some of the actions of racers who were eliminated, then reinstated (a lot of that going on from the look and sound of things), The overall feeling was confusion, and with the poor organization and promotion of things, rumors abounded in the pits. Overall, I personally had a good time, but felt things could have been handled better.

    Suggestions: First off… make this a Saturday/Sunday race. Fridays are hard to get working guys out to the track (80% of your field are these guys). You can have early parking and tech on Fridays (that would help alleviate the tech on Saturday morning).

    Secondly, make a run schedule and STICK TO IT! Have 1 or even two open time run sessions if you want, but plan for them, and have an established POSTED time for qualifying runs. That was the worst complaint that I heard from every racer I spoke with… nobody knew when things were happening. This is not a professional way to run a racing event, “for fun” or not. This reeks of small-time, not the kind of thing to get racers involved.

    Third - PROMOTE YOUR EVENT! Rich, Gavin…as racing promoters (your actual job here) - it’s up to YOU to work with your local track operators and GET SOME TRAFFIC through the gate. We literally had no promotion outside of a blurb in Keels ‘ n Wheels (a local free papar), three days before the start of the event. Aside from that - NOTHING! Word of mouth is not the way to get people in the seats and the lanes. I won’t go into specifics here, but if you would like to discuss this, drop me an email.

    My point through all of this is - Armdrop Live lived up to my expectations… it was an amateur event, ran by amateurs, with “fluid” rules (dictated in my opinion by Rich’s lack of experiece and his ego - TV can do that to a person). I’m not a “Rich hater”, and have no agenda to speak of, aside from being a racer. I personally would love to see this take off, but cmon guys - get it together!

    Robert Williams
    Advanced Automotive of Cape Coral

    {gavin’s reply in bold italics: I love this guy and I love his post. It is a fair and accurate depiction of this event. I guess I could nit pick little things like we were stalling waiting for more cars to come. We KNEW there were no cars coming…LOL Confusion was the buzzword of the day. I can only imagine how the drivers felt. We tried somethings, some worked, some failed miserably. Rich HATES spliting purses and thinks winner take all events make racers run harder. I don’t know why Ralph at Immokalee didn’t require at least some deposit to race. I dig Ralph so I am not saying anything negative here, but that is a head scratcher. Promotion was poor. I wish the Immokalee website had been more complete. Again, not knocking. They do the best with what they got. We debuted this at a smaller track for a reason and that is the price you pay. Your suggestions are DEAD ON Robert and we are TOTALLY revamping everything about this. Your suggestions will be given strong consideration, I can promise you that. On a personal note from me, I want to thank you for taking the time for writing an objective and fair post of this event. I answers a post earlier about not being able to take constructive comments and nothing could be further from the truth. You are a class guy. I wish I would have had a chance to meet you and shake your hand.}

  117. I can’t help but agree with Robert Williams comments. More promotion for the event is necessary as well as structure and timing of what is going on should be adhered to. It seemed that the racers(including myself)practically ran the show on Friday. Even though we were given colored stickers, it did not seem to matter as I saw all different colored stickers making practice passes whenever someone was ready to. I feel that Ralph and his track personnel did as good a job as possible for this event.

    I heard numerous negative comments and one I agree with is how often does a racer go to a track to see how slow they can possibly go. To see a high 4 or low 5 second car try to run a 8.5 pass is somewhat disappointing. A hard launch followed by coasting is not too exciting to watch.

    {gavin’s reply in bold italics: We couldn’t agree more, Jeff. We learned that HARD LAUNCH + COASTING = SUCKING. Who knew?}

  118. Inregards to Immokalee Raceway and the very first ARMDROP, I have to say me and my boyfriend had a blast with his car, he was in the “fast cars ” and was out in the 4th round. You have more chance to win then Pinks all Out! It is how well you know your car! There was some problems at first but then they worked the bugs out and it worked. I have to say that I hope this show makes it, because I rather him compete in this than Pinks All Out! We have taken his car to both events for Pinks All Out in Moroso and Gainsville in Fla. and this was better.I mean we love the show (Pinks All Out) but was very disappointed that 2x it came to Florida and they both were an 11.0 class.
    But as to the Amateurs, I don’t think so… I don’t think this is something that a Promod should run.. but thats my opinion. And if people would have went to the site and listened to the radio advertisment, Rich explained it all, but do your research.. All of our friends had fun and the people that we were racing against..
    I am going to try to get some video on You Tube as soon as I get a chance!

    Rich all I can say is I hope you can make a go out of it..

    Good luck,
    Sunshine28

    {gavin’s reply in bold italics: Sunshine28, I am digging you! Thanks for your comments. I would love to see the footage on YouTube! You go girl.}

  119. well, i have to disagree with both of ya…if they had 400 plus register that means more than enough pepole knew about it, you cant make pepole come out if they dont want to, besides dont forget this was the first show…..do you think they had the seats and lanes over flowing at the first pinks? its negative remarks like these that just make the process of putting something together take longer…….i dont understand how having alot of open time runs is a bad thing, we are there to run our cars, were you in that much of a hurry to get eliminated from the show? i also dont know why so many of you were confused, i knew the whole time they would post a dial and the first to cross line without breaking out was the winner…not that hard to understand…..also, i did not see anybody in the fast class have to run a 8.5 and i knew before this race ever started this was not pinks all out, this was not a race where the man with the most money behind him was gonna win…this is a race that gives everbody a equal chance to win, fast or slow you just have to know your car and where your at on the track, its that simple……maybe these guys should of used the time they gave us to get to know their car and try different runs instead of standing around and complaining…thats what we did……………..

    {gavin’s comments in bold italics: Again, this guy understood this concept and seemed to get enough info. We could have done better indeed. This event rewarded the THINKING MAN…while at first we were TOTALLY OFF with the “death card” thing, this type of racing actually was cool. There were so many that worried about this and that. What we were looking for is a true racer. A “where and when” guy. You, my friend, are a true racer. You are a great ambassador to this sport.

  120. Hello, I would like to say that we (my team & I) had a great time at this event. We had never been to this track before and were very impressed despite all of the rumors. The track hooked great and we thought the track officials were excellent. Everybody treated us like we were special, as they treated every racer at this event, and that is something you just don’t see any more. I drove the blown 72 CUDA, we ran a 5.17@140 MPH. Unfortunately, we broke on our second pass. We were all looking forward to having Rich arm drop our car! I would like to add that every new event starts off a little slow, however I think this event will stick and we look forward to the next one! We will definitely show up!! The one thing I would like to see more of is booths with t-shirts and more photo opportunities for the drivers. Who wouldn’t want a picture of Rich arm dropping there car on the wall?? I know I would have purchased every one with my car in it! Please keep up with this show we had fun and will look forward to any of your upcomming shows. If you need an exhibtion car for any shows let me know. Our car is a full door car & it weighs 3500lbs, has 3200 hp and will run 6 seconds in the quarter…..I would like to say thanks again we had a great time! Gino Bia, New Generation Motorsports, Melbourne, Florida

    {gavin’s reply in bold italics: Gino! I do remember the blown ‘CUDA. The ‘cuda is one of my favorite cars and yours was magnificent. I am sorry you broke as I think you would have been a contender for the money! We try to treat everyone special and I really liked all the great folks who worked the track in Immokalee. Your suggestions are great and I agree with them. I will copy down your info and I hope our paths cross again! }

  121. oh i guess im wrong to then i have been telling everone the same thing as “heil racing” and i heard it from the drag director that way. ops. im not to sure that the way it is run is going to be all that exciting who wants to see a 8 second car go 12’s and on the brake. my personal opinion is and form reading that posts from Robert Williams & Jeff Sullivan, and seeing that the castrol race is the second one Rich might try it the oposite way ( can’t hurt) it’s like any new idea all ideas have to get fine tuned just my idea

    what kind of plan is there for a make up date because according to the weather forcast it is going to rain on thursday saterday and sunday

    {gavin’s reply in bold italics: Who wants to see an 8 second car go 12’s? After this event I can safely say, NO ONE! The Castrol Race will be TOTALLY different and we have a HUGE announcement planned. Say whatever you want about us, but you can’t say we don’t learn from our mistakes! The rain thing has me a little nervous. You sure it isn’t going to be snow?}

  122. I agree with Purple Haze (maybe because he and I made it to the final 2) 0.03 sec. from $10,000….Hey Purple Haze…you owe me a beer!

    {gavin’s reply in bold italics: This is Tyler King I am guessing. You had that fantastic Orange Trans Am. This guy raced SO well and was a total champion. .03 from 10k hurts a tad but you got some nice prizes I hope. And make Purple Haze buy you more than a beer! Seriously, though, Tyler, well done on Saturday and best of luck in everything you do.}

  123. I have to agree with Purple Haze on this….

    {gavin’s reply in bold italics “Ain’t no sunshine when she’s gone…” You are awesome, Sunshine28. Make your boyfriend take you out for a fancy dinner and out dancing. Tell him Rich said so!}

  124. In your opinion, would a dragster have stood a chance? Would anyone watch a show like arm drop, with pipe racks running? Just curious

    {gavin’s reply in bold italics: Great question. We set this up so ANY vehicle could have a chance. We had FANTASTIC front engine dragsters and they did well. Would anyone watch a show like this? Your guess is as good as mine! Thanks for your post.}

  125. Not to keep beating an obviously dead horse, but as a spectator on Saturday (had to be unfortunately, our car was in pieces in the shop) I can honestly say I wouldn’t pay another $20 to see cars peddling down the track trying to cross the finish line in double the time of their typical1/8 mile runs. After talking with a few pissed off racers and watching in awe as cars coasted the last 200′ across the finish line, we left the track Saturday night scratching our heads and trying to figure out just what the reasoning was behind what we were watching. After reading the posts on here, I have a much better understanding but still would not be willing to enter future events or pay the $20 to watch them if they perpetuate this madness. I loved Pinks and All Out but this one may need a little more time on the drawing board.

    {gavin’s reply in bold italics: Head scratching was the theme of the day really. I don’t blame you a bit. I am not sure that I would pay 20 cents to watch cars go slow…Trust me, it has been on the drawing board all weekend! Thanks for your post.}

  126. are you guys coming anywhere near Chicagoland
    (Rt 66, Greatlakes dragway, or US.41)

  127. After reading all the negative feedback regarding the first Arm Drop Event, its upsetting. I can understand frustration on some angles but really people this is not a vcr, you don’t just plug it in and it works. This was a first time ever live drag race under a very different format, a very original and awesome one I must say. Sure to true purist maybe not. Really thou anybody can build a 4.4 second 1/8 mile car and go fast all day long. like the concept says who knows their car! Any one can go fast, with a format like this we find out who can drive. I give a standing ovation to Rich, Gavin, Brian and Ken and everyone else involved in Arm Drop Live for all their hard work and efforts they took something never done, unproven and put their names out there and on the line and put on a great show. Like with any new thing there will be bugs to work out, things to fix, and they did it and it works. The NFL is changing rules every year so give these guys a break. We spent two very long hot days out there getting our buts kicked by the Florida sun after driving 24 hours straight. I would do it again and not think twice. Every event is gonna get better and bigger. This concept worked and we loved it. thank you Arm Drop Live for putting on a great show. Awesome job guys!!!

  128. Hey Gavin, any hints about what you are changing fo the edmonton races?

  129. Wow guess you guys learned quite alot of what not to do,but thats the nature of the beast…I bet if you asked more racers what they thought you just might learn more then you think ..Good luck on the next adventure..

  130. “heads up format utilizing the drop of Rich’s arms and a floating dial in system to determine the best bracket racer of the day.”

    Can we get a little specific on this? I’m registered for Castrol & it would be nice to have a vague clue of what we are doing.
    By the way, great idea to add mini competions to the qualifying day, adds some excitement to what is normally a semi boring event.

  131. Hey guys,
    Great job pulling off what should/could have been the biggest flop since “Speed Racer”.
    It was a great turnout of people & cars, which, once it got going, worked out to be a lot of fun.
    All the guys at Murray’s Speed & Custom would like to thank you. (I am still recooperating).

    For more pics, go to the gallery on our website.
    http://www.888murrays.com
    I am adding each day. There is a lot of them.

    It was great to meet you all, much respect goes out to you for a job well done.
    Hope we can get together again in the future for more racing & some partying.

  132. WANT TO SEE SOME PICS FROM THE FIRST ARM DROP AT IMMOKALEE GO TO WWW888MURRAYS.COM

  133. the race was great i had a good time meeting the crew from arm drop racing. you guys like murrays speed and custom rule .looking forward to another arm drop racing event in south fla see you soon steve 1965 black malibu

  134. Personally, I had a great time. I drove the blown ‘69 camaro street car. I broke the blower drive Friday eve and did some 2AM welding to come back for Sat. It had a bit too much shake, but I managed a 7.20 shifting at 4k. Once they changed the format after the first few pairings, it was great. There were no 8.50 cars running on a 12.00 “death card”. They paired cars up that ran close times, then pulled a card with either the slowest of the two’s time or slightly slower yet, thus making it very competitive. I feel it was more of a luck race than “knowing your ride”, but it was a fun format. - Just for note, I got bumped in the first round, lifting too much to a 7.50 on a 7.35 dial, my opponent running a 7.45 with an almost identical reaction time. Even still, I would be back next weekend if they were running it again. - Good Luck Guys!

  135. I think that it is what you make of it. Those of us that came out to race and have a great time did so. Those that were looking to nitpick and bitch about how unhappy they were did so. I lost in the final 4 of the slow cars to a much slower car. The dial was 8.89, he ran a 8.94. I spun, let off at 3/4 track and crossed the stripe first only to have run a too fast 8.77. I had a great time and would do it again in a minute. I do think Sat/Sun would have worked out better, but hey, a Fri off work never hurt anyone. Keep it up and please come back next year…..

  136. Well first of all I am a huge fan of all the Pinks events and all that you guys have done for the sport. Hey Justin S. that was me that you lost against ( Lime Mustang) that dial in time was perfect for my car. I was able to make it to the last eight in my class but was asked to run a 10.95 E.T. against a neon that dialed in at 8.40 ?? All prevoius runs were reasonable times but that last one was way off for both of us. Either way me , my family and my friends all had a good time. Most reasonable people that entered this event should have known there was going to be a lack of info and lots of confusion, I was confused for most of the event but made do, it was expected in my mind. I do believe you guys (Brian, Rich, Gavine) turned it around and made the best of what was going to be a train wreck.
    I would also like to thank the crew at IMRR for all their hard work on what was a HOT, HOT day. I will say though that this type of event should be geared more towards Street/Streip type cars. The big boys that are running in the 4’s and 5’s aren’t going to take a chance on blowing up their motors or running into the wall for that kinda money. IMRR is my home track and I know some of those guys so I can attest to that. On one last note guys, please keep what you have going honest and fair, no pre-race favorites. Thanks and good luck

  137. Lookin forward to the Edmonton show

  138. Edmonton ~ WOW! How Awesome! You can’t say Edmonton does’nt go “All Out” The contestants raced so hard they were blowing engines and there was smoke galore. O’ and yes the Corvette hit the wall. A total write off. Great cars, great track, great host! And even the crowd has a say if someone “jumped”.
    Hope Rich comes back for more! Edmonton is honored to have him!!!

    Jamie S. Edmonton

    (Gavin’s reply in bold italics: Thanks, Jamie, but it is WE at Armdrop Racing who are honored to have been at Castrol. Everyone treated us great and we absolutely LOVED our stay. Edmonton did go “All Out” for sure, although that corvette that hit the wall made my heart hurt. I had a chance to meet John and what a fantastic guy. I hope everyone in the crown had HALF the time that you did!)

  139. Hey Rich,

    I’m the guy in the stand giving you the thumbs up or down! Red and Black shirt. We at Edmonton and Crackmasters hope to see you again soon!

    Jamie S. Edmonton

  140. Had a great time at arm drop, even though I didn’t make the 128 car field. I still got to run the “heads up 32″. Made it to the final round where I lost to a bike! Overall had a great time and would do it again.

    (Gavin’s reply in bold italics: Chris! You were an absolute joy to watch race in the Heads Up 32! You are a class act and the kind of racer we are looking for at these events. A true competetor and you darn near took that bike! I am glad to hear you say you would do it again! We may take you up on that!)

  141. Arm Drop Live was Awesome!!! Gavin you are a funny guy enjoyed listening to you! Rich you were great to watch live as well as on pinks. Thanks for coming to edmonton and hope you both will be back again!

  142. i too failed to make the 128, but had a great time. raced the whole weekend with a hurt tranny…3rd gear was all but toasted, thats why a couple runs were 12.5 @ 98 mph!! had a great time and you guys WILL see me again! i gotta go pull my tranny now!!

  143. Overall a great event,
    It would have been nice to do something more for the 80 or so cars that spent 2 days test n tuning and then trying to qualify only to not further compete.
    I’m speculating to say that there must have been very close to the 256 cars qualified on sunday. I know the rules state that if there is less than 256 than only 128 advance. The heads up 32 helped fill the gap allowing 160 cars to compete. Most of the arm drop heads up best 2 out of 3 were already in the top 160.
    w a s

  144. Don’t be to dissapointed to lose to that bike! You did great! And some of the cars beat the bikes which is Awesome! The crowd got into it and loved it! We the spectators were very ipressed with all the automobiles, drivers, and teams! You all did Canada Proud!

    Jamie S. Edmonton

  145. My wife and I went to your Gainsville taping and had the best time ever. Thanks for a great show . I liked it better than Gator Nationals.

  146. What an incredible event..all those cars,trucks and machines. Armdrop and Castrol should be very proud of the event that was staged. We even made it 3 rounds in our 89 Chev pickup which was making its first passes of the year after a 5 day thrash to get it back together. Made our time and effort well worth it. BEST deal for your money by a long shot. Congrats again..you WILL be back next year??.. RIGHT????

  147. My friend and I entered Armdrop in Edmonton. We were pumped up when we got there on Friday morning.The lineup to enter was 4 deep and the pits were full. We met people from all over the province. It was nice to see a lot of first time racers and different cars. We had a great time overall….but, there were some minor drawbacks. If I had to do it over again I would not pre register, because I had to pay a nominal service charge and take the risk of a rainout. I did not make the 128 car field, but Idid enjoy heads up racing. I lost my race because of a missed third gear shift. My friend also lost his race after running his best time ever. The car he lost to ran 8 tenths faster than his qualifying time. We protested and a decision was quickly made by Brian. My advice to future racers in this class is, run your qualifier, then open your (Nitrous) bottle. Both of the Chevelles will be back next year.

  148. so i was curious in pinks all out i noticed its all door cars can i run a front engine dragster in there if i wanted or is it more geared just to the door cars? reason im asking is because i noticed that pinks is coming to woodburn drag strip and i wanted to make an appearance thanks

    (Gavin’s comment in bold/italics) PINKS is NOT coming to Woodburn Dragstrip. Armdrop Racing will be there along with Rich Christensen. The two are completely different things. Read up on the rules here at this site and you will have to check with Gene at Woodburn, but I think all vehicles are allowed in as they were in our previous event.

  149. Waer do you sine up to win the 10.000 dollers.

  150. I was wondering the time for the show at Woodburn OR on the 4th and 5th of July?

    Thanks
    Mike

    (Gavin’s comments in bold/italics) You are welcome! For exact times, please consult the Woodburn website as every event varies as to price and event start time. It should be a great event and I hope to see you there!

  151. HOW MUCH ARE THE TICKETS FOR SATURDAY’S EVENT COST???AND THE TIME OF THE EVENT??
    JUST TO COME AND WATCH THAT IS…

    Gavin’s comments in bold/italics) Great question. For that info, please contact the Woodburn Dragstrip website as each local venue sets the price and the time schedule. It should be a wild one. Hope to see you there!

  152. Hi I have entered the Armdrope at Toronto Motorsports Park and I race a Pro Mod Motorcycle. I had sent in a dail-in of 7.20et and I was wondering how the rules would aply to my et. Thanks Don

    (Gavin’s response in bold/italics) Great question, and I urge you to read the updated format rules on the home page. You ET is a fast one and I am guessing that you will make the 256 vehicle field. From then on, you will compete against racers running similar ET’s. For example, say that 7.2 is your qualifying ET. You may be paired up against a racer that qualified with a 7.45. You both pull to the line, the digital LCD shows a time of 7.8. You must beat your opponent but you can’t run faster than the 7.8. If you run say a 7.3 and your opponent gets a lousy launch and comes in at 7.9, YOUR OPPONENT is the one who advances because you “broke out” and ran way faster than the time posted. This is a thinking man’s race that rewards a racer for knowing his/her vehicle and who is able to think and still get their vehicle across the line first.

  153. i have seat belt that are out dated because i dont race full time but can i race on your show when it comes to my town or do i have to update my seat belts.

    (Gavin’s comments in bold/italics) Yes, replace replace replace. Safety first, especially when it comes to seat belts!

  154. was wondering what if your apponent breaks or has a crappy launch do I still have to run close to my best or can I take it easy on my car

    (Gavin’s Comments in bold/italics) You have to do just two things, beat your opponent,which should be easier since they either broke or had a crappy launch and NOT RUN faster than the time posted on the digital LCD readout. For example, let’s say you qualified at 10.00 and your opponent qualified at 10.2. The LCD readout says 10.43 and you guys launch. During that launch, he breaks. You SHOULD take the win light and go no faster than the 10.43. So yes, go easy and move on to the next round! Great question and good luck!
